What's Becomics?

Becomics is a platform designed by comic book lovers for comic book lovers to share their works and discover the work of others. The platform is designed to give artists a new and fun tool for creating new content, one that will allow them to decide how their readers are going to experience their comics.

Today most web-comics are basically still pictures sitting stationary on the screen, much like printed comic books. We are taking advantage of the new concept of “the infinite canvas” where the artists no longer need to be confined by the borders of a page.

Why should I publish at Becomics?

With Becomics, artists will have the power to unleash a whole new set of creative tools like: movement, rotation, zooming, dissolving between scenes, and many more, and you can do it with any page format! We allow comics to be completely interactive and give both the creators and the readers the ability to control, and manipulate their experience.

What if I want to have a more traditional feel for my comic?

We made a lot of effort making sure we do not harm the sanctity of the printed media, instead we are on a mission to enhance it. You can upload a comic in any format and use as many or as few editing tools as you wish.

Can I use Becomics to edit my comics and show them on my personal website?

Yes! You can embed our player with all of its features on you own personal website.

Do I keep the legal rights of my comics?

Yes. Becomics acts as a 3rd party and does not get any copy rights (or any other rights except for promotional purposes of your comics and of Becomics). Artists may upload only content they have all the legal rights to, or have the permission from the owner of the content to upload it to Becomics.

Uploading comics

Which image files supported?

Comics pages
For pages in your comic we currently support .JPG, .PNG, and .GIF file formats. We will introduce .SVG support in the next few weeks for a totally scalable experience! For cover and banner images you can use .PNG, .JPG, .GIF, .BMP, and .JPS file types

What's Ideal images sizes and ratios?

Currently, the size limit for pages in your comics is limited to 15MB each, but we found that for a smooth reading experience, pages that are up to 3-4MB work best.
Profile pictures are displayed as a 1:1 ratio. You can upload a picture in any ratio but it will be cropped to a square.
Cover Images, both for comics and for series, are displayed in a 16:9 ratio. You can upload a picture in any ratio but it will be cropped to the correct ratio automatically.
Banners are formatted to a 5:1 ratio. You can upload a picture in any ratio but it will be cropped to the correct ratio automatically.

Can I add music?

Music on your comics is a feature that we currently do not support. There are multiple reasons for that, but the main one was that we didn't want to take the comic experience too far into the realm of video. We thought about letting users add narration or sound effects as well, and those ideas were voted off as well for the same reason.

It is very important to us to keep the experience as clean and possible. If you think your comic can benefit from a sound track, you are more than welcome to put a link to the music in the description of your comic and encourage people to open the link before reading.

Can I add a link to my own site?

Yes. You can add links in your profile's 'about' section, or add links in the description of your series and comics.

Monetization and promotion

Can I make money from my comics?

We are at the earliest stages of our existence, and therefore, we do not have a partership program with artists yet. That means, in Becomics today, you will not directly generate revenue. We are working hard on integrating a monetization system for artists in our site in the near future.

How can I become a featured artist or have my comic featured?

Our editorial team periodically chooses which comics to feature. It is completely free. Our team is currently focusing on comics that use the editor/player in a creative and innovative way. If you want to increase your chances of being featured, that's a good place to start!
